Daniel Hemric Eyeing Championships in Southern Super Series Gulf Coast Doubleheader
Kannapolis, NC Driver Leads Gulf Coast & Blizzard Standings Heading into Final Rounds
The inaugural Southern Super Series Championship presented by Sunoco will be settled over the final three races between Kannapolis, North Carolina's Daniel Hemric and Senoia, Georgia's Bubba Pollard.  The two drivers have combined for a total of four wins and nine fast time awards this season.

Within the SSS title chase, Hemric finds himself leading the standings in the Buddy's Home Furnishings Blizzard Series at Pensacola, Florida's Five Flags Speedway, the next stop for the Southern Super Series on September 20.  The following night, the Southern Super Series travels to Mobile International Speedway in Alabama, where Hemric stands second in the track-specific Miller Lite Series.  At the same time he is the overall point leader in the Gulf Coast Championship Series presented by Sunoco, which combines the track points from Five Flags and Mobile.

With so many titles on the line in a two-day span, Hemric knows he will need to string together a couple of strong finishes in order to rack up the accolades.

"There is a lot at stake when we go back down to the deep south in a few weeks," said Hemric.  "It will be fun to see how that all shakes out.  I belief we have a chance at the three championships that weekend and a fourth down the road in the Southern Super Series.

Taking it one step at a time, Hemric leads the Blizzard Series at Five Flags by 23 points over John Hunter Nemechek and 31 over Pollard.  A solid finish would make him the ninth different champion in the Blizzard Series in the past nine years.  It would also be the third time in the last four that a Georgia-based team could win the title as his Carswell Motorsports team is based in Woodstock, Georgia.

At Mobile, Hemric will have an uphill climb if he is going to take that track title.  He trails Nemechek by 16 points going into the final Super Late Model race of the season at Mobile's half mile.

Hemric could make history by sweeping the Blizzard Series, Miller Lite Series and Gulf Coast Series titles.  That feat has only been done by Pollard in 2012 and Chase Elliott in 2010. Either way, Hemric or Nemechek will dethrone Pollard, who has won three of the last four track titles at Mobile.

"It would be huge to win a championship in Super Late Models," explained Hemric.  "To come from winning the JEGS Tour title last year and to be running for a championship right away says a lot about our performance and our success.  It would be big take a championship back to North Georgia for Deanna and Jake Carswell."

Point racing is nothing new for Hemric who ran Legends Cars and found himself battling for several track, regional and national titles over the course of his career. He dominated the 2012 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, winning eight of the 14 races.  Even with all the championship experience, each race holds a different set of cards for a driver like Hemric.

"I don't think you ever get used to it," said Hemric. "It's nice to get into a car and know you have a shot to win or race for a championship.  I am just real proud the of the 98 Carswell Motorsports team and how far we have come from the beginning of the season."
