Casey Smith to Make New Southern Super Series Debut This Weekend
Texas Driver to Compete at Five Flags on Friday and Montgomery on Saturday
Team PR - This weekend Texas native Casey Smith will travel outside his home state of Texas for just the second time this season to compete behind the wheel of his familiar #99 Super Late Model machine. Smith will be making his debut in the new Southern Super Series at Pensacola, Florida’s Five Flags Speedway on Friday night, and then doing battle again the very next night in Mobile, Alabama at Mobile International Speedway. Both events will also double up as Blizzard Series and Miller Lite Series events at each facility.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of my super this weekend, and back racing at Pensacola (FL) and Mobile (AL). We’ve had a lot of fun running the Pro Late Model car close to home, but there’s nothing like wheeling a Super Late Model,” explained an excited Smith. “We had a good showing at the Rattler and I think we could do the same this weekend.”

One major race note that will be a bit different than normal Blizzard and Miller Lite Series races; will be the fact that both events this weekend will be 125 lap distances and feature six tires for the teams to use. Normally the events would end on lap 100 with just four Hoosier race tires at the team’s disposal. According to Smith he has mixed emotions on the differences.

“I like the longer distances because we always seem to run better in longer distance races like the Snowball Derby and Rattler, but the six tires kind of eliminates the strategy of tire management some. Regardless it’s the same for everyone and we’ll do our best to make our car the best we can. Usually qualifying is our weak point so if we can get our car quick then maybe we can get a top ten starting spot and we’ll be ok,” added Casey.

The Memorial Day weekend kicks off for Casey and company on Friday night at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida with the running of the Southern Super Series 125. The following night the team will make the fifty minute drive to Mobile (AL) International Speedway for the Miller Lite 125.
