New Car, No Problem for Bubba Pollard at Mobile International Speedway
Dogfight With Donnie Wilson Results in Six Lead Changes, Ends With Pollard on Top
Two of the Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco’s top drivers put on a whale of a show on Saturday night during the Miller Lite 125 at Mobile International Speedway (AL).  Bubba Pollard, who was sporting a new Grand American Chassis that had two races on it, and Donnie Wilson entered the night having won seven of the first 10 races on the 2014 Southern Super Series schedule. The two Super Late Model heavyweights combined to lead all 125 laps on Saturday night and swapped the lead a total of six times before Pollard got the better of Wilson to claim his fifth win of the season.

"To win in this new car means a lot," said Pollard.  "We were off with it last night at Five Flags and tonight it was good.  There isn't a better group to race with then the guys in the Southern Super Series. Donnie and I swapped the lead a half dozen times, like the announcer said, and that was just awesome."

The cat and mouse game between Pollard and Wilson started in the first half of the race with lead changes on laps 20, 30, 38, 47, 65 and the final one on lap 73.  Both drivers said they were going hard at the break and an adjustment to Pollard's car during the break was the cake that allowed him to lead the final 50 laps of the race.

"We had to do our homework after last night," said Pollard.  "We took a big swing at it at the break to help tighten the car up and it worked.  (Donnie) Wilson stayed with us for a while, but we got away from him enough to seal the deal."
For Wilson it was his 10th consecutive top-five finish.  That consistency has him in the top-five in the season long Southern Super Series championship standings despite missing the season opening race at South Alabama Speedway.
"We didn't want to burn our stuff up so I'd let him by and he'd left me by," said Wilson of his battle with Pollard on Saturday night.  "We were waiting here for the last 50 (laps) and at that point our cars were even-steven.  Hey, it's another good finish and a solid weekend.”

Rounding out the top five were Mike Garvey, who was also on the podium at Five Flags Speedway (FL) on Friday night, Daniel Hemric, and Harrison Burton. The rest of the top-10 included Anderson Bowen, Kyle Grissom, Augie Grill, Allen Karnes and Korey Ruble.

Bubba Pollard started the night by capturing the $500 Pole Award Winner, which is presented by Hamner Racing Engines, McGunegill Engine Performance, Progressive Racing Engines, Ford Racing, and RW Racing Engines.  It was the 12th time in his career that he's earned that honor in Southern Super Series competition.

Pollard was also the Dubz Thermal Products halfway leader and will pocket $100 for leading lap 63.

The Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco will be back in action on Saturday, August 9 at Gresham Motorsports Park (GA) for the 31st Annual World Crown 300.
