Loads of Talent Fill Southern Super Series Rattler 250 Entry List
Former Race Winners, Champions and NASCAR Stars Schedule to Compete in SSS Season Opener
Drivers from 12 states and two Canadian provinces are represented on the current entry list for the Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco season-opening Rattler 250 at South Alabama Speedway.  The race, which takes place on Sunday, March 15, will feature former Rattler 250 winners, Super Late Model touring series champions and well-known names in the NASCAR ranks.  When added all together, the entry list for this year’s Rattler is one of the strongest in the 39-year history of the prestigious event.

2014 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion Chase Elliott heads the list of drivers with ties to NASCAR’s top-three series.  Elliott is making his return to the Rattler for the first time since 2011 and will be looking to pick up his first career win in the event after racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race in Arizona the day prior.

Full-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competitor and 2013 Southern Super Series champion Daniel Hemric recently announced his intentions to compete with the No. 98 Carswell Motorsports team.  The NTS Motorsports driver has been one of short track racing’s most popular drivers in recent years and instantly ups the ante for the rest of the teams competing in the event.

Another driver with NASCAR ties, Ross Kenseth, the son of 2003 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Matt Kenseth, will be making a return trip to Kinston, Alabama to compete in the Rattler 250.  The second-generation racer recently made a move south to the North Carolina area and will be competing for his own team this weekend.

2014 Southern Super Series champion Bubba Pollard leads a strong contingent of Southern Super Series competitors into this year’s season opener.  The Senoia, Georgia driver enters the race with tons of momentum after already picking up two Super Late Model wins, including the inaugural $25,000-to-win Winter Showdown in California, to begin his 2015 season. Pollard is a former winner of the Rattler 250 and will look to ride his momentum to Rattler win number two.

Fellow Southern Super Series stars Casey Smith, Donnie Wilson and Anderson Bowen will join Pollard as they kick-off their 2015 season.

A number of the sport’s young, rising stars will join a group of veteran competitors when the green flag waves at South Alabama Speedway.  2014 Snowball Derby winner John Hunter Nemechek, 2014 Snowball Derby runner-up Dalton Sargeant and 19-year-old ARCA Racing Series driver Cody Coughlin have all filled entries for the race.

They will be joined by dirt racing star Christopher Bell, who enters the race with Kyle Busch Motorsports following an impressive win at the 49th Annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway (FL).  Bell and the KBM team have proven themselves as a threat in the Super Late Model ranks and are sure to be contending for the win come Sunday.

Defending race winner Casey Roderick, NASCAR K&N Pro Series East rookie William Byron, two-time SLM World Series winner Harrison Burton and 2014 ARCA Midwest Tour champion Ty Majeski have all filed entries and make the entry list that much more impressive.
